Hi! My name is Nicole White. I'm a self proclaimed Budget Nerd and now YNAB Certified Budget Coach.In January 2020, we were 25k in debt with only $70 in our bank account. The effects of the 2008 housing market crash followed us around for years. We were house poor and our cards were maxed out. We took out 401k loans and second jobs to try to pay it off but it never seemed to make a dent in our debt. We had tried to start a family but couldn't afford all the tests to find out why I never got pregnant.Over the last three years we have been able to pay off 75% of our credit card debt on a low single income, while also saving for true expenses to keep from creating debt in the future. We weathered things like having large vet bills for two senior dogs and saving up a down payment for a new car. We also were able to finally get testing for infertility so we could start to move ahead in our journey to become parents.I tell everyone I know about YNAB because it has allowed me to change my relationship with money and be able to have some stability with our finances.I live in Wisconsin with my husband and dog Penny, who we call Roo because she bounds around the house like she has springs in her feet.
